the amateur show

i started to organize all my books neatly in the bookcase today. i was on the verge of tackling the whole guest room but... no i couldn't do it. it's just to much of a mess. i'm just gonna have to wait until i get that "spirit cleaning" in me. it's just this random force that empowers me to clean something. it's like a now or never kind of emotion. it's actually pretty helpful. all i need are some nails..perhaps some tape to hang up all those pictures i have yet to hang.

anyways, i found my favorite picture of gudni and i. it's the one where we're out on the balcony. the weather was like nothing i'd ever expect in iceland. i was wearing my short sleeved dress, and sunglasses. gudni was shirtless and tanning-that kind of hot. but it was so nice to be next to him. we were blasting eg and just talking about nothing. i loved that balcony, it was painted red like the rest of the apartment building. (which was so awesome) we had candles hanging out front and our laundry behind us, a really nice view of our sjoppa, and the dagmamma's backyard with all those little babies napping.. and some hill with a really weird looking tower, and that guy who lived right across from us who kept his curtains open and always went inside the kitchen to open the fridge. sometimes, we'd end up battling giant bees and horseflies but for the most part, they didn't bother us too much.

o zittre nicht

mozart

O zittre nicht, mein lieber Sohn
Du bist unschuldig, weise, fromm;
Ein Jüngling, so wie du, vermag am besten
Dies tiefbetrübte Mutterherz zu trösten.

Zum Leiden bin ich auserkoren,
Denn meine Tochter fehlet mir;

what it takes to be a maverick

* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."
* If you grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, you're a quintessential American story.

* If your name is Barack, you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* If you name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

* If you graduate from Harvard Law School, you are unstable.
* If you attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

* If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
* If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system, while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.

* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.
* If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

ok, much clearer now

barbara and i have been friends for much to long. i feel like we've gone beyond that level. once i moved to california, we barely talked. and it was my fault i'll admit that. i have a slight problem keeping contact with people and i hardly ever called her. but once my life lead me back to florida, we picked up right where we left off. it was as if nothing had changed.

our friendship survived that. two years of hardly speaking to each other. i always considered her my best friend though, and i never once forgot about her. i know once i move to iceland i won't make the same mistake twice. i don't really have friends there, so i would definately hold on to her whenever i needed someone to talk to.

nothingnothingnothing

i have nothing to write. this place doesn't inspire me. it only hinders creation. there's just nothing to say..nothing to talk about. nothing worthwhile. but i'll update once i come across something to talk about..
"but mostly i just wanted to tell you how much i love you"
gudni is what keeps me going nowadays..

"i align my chakras"

today was alright. my first class happened to go by pretty fast. we were discussing..ehh who cares what we where discussing. after class ended i met up with justin and another girl i went to high school with but never talked to. she was actually a really sweet girl. we walked to the coffee shop across the street and just shot the shit for..about 2 hours. all of our classes start at around 12:40. i think i've basically learned to except people for who they are. dorothy taught me that one. anywho..acting class was a little strange. my professor fractured her jawbone playing soccer so she couldn't really "talk that much" as she explained to us--but for a fractured jaw, she was talking pretty much. i mean like..10 minute stories here. there's this girl in class whose pretty "in the know" on the whole drama scene at mdc. she talks about being really spritual and into..meditation with.."body highs" and chakras and shit like that.you would think someone like that would be pretty open and understanding, but she comes off as being so pompous and full of herself. all she talks about is herself and her meditation..i think she's pretty phony. i mean..she lead the way to like a fifteen minute unnecessary convo between her and 2 other girls about meditation and other bullshit. and sure, thats cool if we're kind of tapping on the subject, but she was just ready to burn at least half an hour with her bullshit. you can tell she just likes the sound of her own voice. it was that type of thing..talk talk talk blaahhh blaah but just shit comming out. i mean this is acting class not meditation class.

anyways, other then that..
well..there's nothing much else.

ég er koma aftur!

fyrirgefdu. i knew i wouldn't really be able to update my blog while i was in iceland..i just knew it! gudni doesn't have internet soo. it was quite the task. but i'm back..and to no one suprise i still very much dislike it here. but anyways, i can't possibly sum up my three month visit. it was wonderful. it was..quite the change in our relationship. i love him more then ever. we came to the conclusion to finally make the move. i've realized that despite the radical differences between me and iceland, i'd much rather be there. i want to be with gudni, and i'm ready to start my own life now. i have yet to upload all my pictures, but i'll do it soon. i met some really interesting people, and my was the weather beautiful! now it's time to put in for my papers. that's the next hurdle. i have a feeling things will be fine.

now the only thing keeping me busy here is this presidential election. god..i wish mcCain would just fuck off already.
