night.falls
my dreams are getting more psychotic by the night. i was in some kind of victorian haunted house, this old woman was trying to sell it. she said every time she looked out the window she would see a ghost walking and she couldn’t deal with it anymore. i decided to look out the window as well, and there she was.. a ghost, right out the window. it looked liked a black shadow, and i could see the outline of pointed shoes. there was also a huge screen playing movies from the forties, they were being projected onto some wall outside the house, in a courtyard.. i met a man, if i can call him that. he had the body of a man, but the head of some kind of deep water fish..and i was intensely attracted to him..

slæmt mat
Today was the day when the foodeth runneth a little too loweth, so we went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. Neto always sells the latest, craziest old Icelandic food products. About two weeks ago, there was a special on lambahjörtu, which is lamb heart, and lamb liver. Since Þorramat is upon us, this time they featured more rotten shark, sheep BALLS, and bull tongue. The bull tongue was at least a foot long, I couldn't believe it. It was just like a human tongue in texture, you can see the hairs and taste buds..ugh. My mate just kept going back to it to have a look. There was only about three packages there. I wonder if it's been selling well.. or were three packages enough to satisfy demand?

un jour
Yesterday night I decided to send an e-mail to my old French teacher in middle school. I wanted to apologize to her for how I acted in French class, I was one of her best students, and then suddenly I stopped paying attention and drifting, not caring anymore. I guess I just wanted to let her know that I was just going through a silly teen phase, and it was nothing personal against her. I'm an adult now, and I certainly didn't retain those characteristics. I feel kind of lame for sending her an e-mail concerning something that happened so long ago..but maybe she'll really appreciate it. Maybe it'll make her day..

holy moly matrimony
it's official, i've been married for a whole year. today is my wedding anniversary, and how am i spending it? at work for the better part of the day. but it's alright, i remember last year how i was jobless and desperately needing money. so, all in all, it's actually a nice feeling to be working..as strange as that sounds..
anyways, looking back at our relationship makes me smile, we have both been through a lot of hurdles to overcome-from only seeing each other every four months, to issues involving people i'd rather not mention..
the most important thing is we still love each other, and a year of marriage is a wonderful start. here's to many more :o)

request and breathe easy
i've been neglecting this blog so much, that i've failed to reveal the exciting fact of our planned trip abroad to amsterdam, and germany :o) we've booked our flights, and we'll be leaving july 28. i'm quite excited, but it hasn't hit me to the full affect yet. july is still a ways away, and for some reason, i can't picture the image of me roaming streets of europe, it's been my dream and yet, i can't imagine it. i think it's my subconscious not wanting to conjure up any images in my head, thus getting a false perception. hmm, when i word it that way, it seems like a good thing. but deep down, i really am excited, and i can't wait to see more of the world.
so, we've decided on four nights in amsterdam, then a train to nuremberg, germany, and last, berlin. hopefully we can just take off from there. now, the only hurdle i have to get over is requesting those days off. once that's done, maybe i'll breathe a little easier.
oh and by the way, happy new year!

how sweet the bells
how sweet the bells
but what can they tell
of heaven and hell
too brief the sound
too brief they sound
and yet they resound
with the world
menschen und wind ändern geschwind.

numb, but smelling good..
my hands smell so good after chopping up some garlic. it was a daunting task, due to the fact that i bought whole cloves which require peeling. next time, i'll just buy them minced. it was his friends birthday yesterday, so we decided to invite him over for an afternoon smoke if you will. in return, he brought us a whole lamb leg, which comes easy-he works for several groceries. but it was amazing, it cost 4,000 kronas and it weighs at least 5 pounds. it's massive, and it's in the oven right now.
so i chopped up some onions and mushrooms as well, it should be ready in about 30 minutes. the only dilemma i'm facing is that i don't have any sauce for the lamb. i looked in the cupboards and all that is available is curry sauce, or kjötbollursósa (meatball sauce). hmm, lamb with curry sauce might come off as a little exotic, maybe a new twist to lamb? but with my luck, it'll just be a strange mixture, unbeknowst to icelandic taste. we'll see how it goes.

according to the art of courtly love written by capellanus in the 12th century, love is described as ''...a certain inborn suffering derived from the sight of and excessive meditation upon the beauty of the opposite sex..the easy attainment of love makes it of little value; difficulty of attainment makes it prized.''
